"They did a good job, not a great job. They were definitely more reasonably priced than some of the other similar services. My carpets were steam cleaned, and they look better, just not great. They didn't arrive until almost 5:00 p.m., scheduled for between 1:00 - 4:00, and I think the guy was ready to get in, get out, and get home."

Provider's Response

We apologize for being late, I believe we recommended Deep shampoo for your carpets.

I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of this service! - Sylvia R."

"They never showed-up to the appointment. First, they told me they could not find the building (i.e. the building is 15 stories high and covers an entire block). Seven hours later they found the building, but then they told me they could not find the keys (the keys were left with the concierge). I believe they never tried to show-up and then just made excuses as to why they failed to show-up. A day later I had to call them to reschedule, got in an argument with the manager, and the conversation ended by the manager stating "I don't want to do the service for you". It seems like they have an extremely remote idea of the meaning of customer service, and I would not recommend these people to my worst enemy. It was a horrible experience for something that seemed simple. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS!!!"

Provider's Response

We did try calling you several times during the day. We always like to have someone home when service is being done. We appreciate the trust, but whom did you tell you left the keys with concierge? We apologize for the inconvenience.

"We have off white carpet throughout our upstairs. I thought for sure these guys would wear "booties" over their shoes as they were in and out of our house several times. But, they didn't. Also, I was a little surprised that when they were finished they dumped the dirty water on our front yard--is this normal practice"

" What I thought would be a great deal ended with my Sunday being a debate with the service technician and his supervisor who didn't like that we questioned why there was going to be an extra charge to clean the main return line which was included in the price of the purchase ($199 was the charge they provided; same price to clean the connection box off the main AC unit). Needless to say, the rest of the service was pointing out to the technician that there was still dust in certain areas, listening to excuses as to why they couldn't clean the main return line because the tool they used worked well with only with metal lined venting and using a water hose to clean the insulation lined vents would be the only way to clean it (not to mention cause mold since it the insulation would be damp). We were told there were no tube attachments to use with the vacuum hose they used (this was extremely hard to believe). We even hooked up our house vacuum using the hose attachment to show them how much better their service would be if the used such a tool. Nathan Fingerman, the service technician, seemed to think we (the customer) were being unreasonable, but he didn't understand we were simply trying to get what we paid for. Majority of the answers we got from him regarding the service was "I don't know." They were going to leave without cleaning up and putting back all the vents and returning the dryer back to it's original state. Simple request for post service work clean up of the dust and vents that were left as a result of the service, were received with a response of that's how that is. They didn't wear shoe covers and went through the house with work shoes. Overall, we were extremely disappointed in this service and probably could have done a better job with a rental machine. Its no wonder why this company has less than a 50% rating. The work wasn't done yet and he wanted me to sign the service request - big rush to leave a shoddily done service....hmmmm. Don't use this company - simply look at all the excuses provided to their negative ratings. "

"It was a classic bait and switch scam. The two-man team came in without any equipment and asked to see the furnace. After opening it up they told me the burners and blower motor were too dusty and that I would need these to be cleaned before they could clean the ducts. Their price would be 400 dollars. But they told me that I could get someone else to do this and they would come back. Well the first problem is that the blower motor was not at all dusty and there was only a little dust on the burners. This, however, is moot as I'm not using the burners on the furnace now and won't be for some time. I told them I'd clean the burners when they we're done with the duct service. After a song and dance routine where the they called into the office, the main serviceman said he would not be able to perform the service until the burners were cleaned. And they left. Another flaw in their scheme is that any high pressure system used to clean out the main duct and the return line would blow out any minor dust in the system. So, as the furnace panels were open, I vacuumed off the burners and the blower motor, wiped down the interior of the furnace and the burners with disinfectant and changed the air filter and put the unit back together-- it took me ten minutes-- something they wanted to charge 400 dollars to do. Thus, If they came back, I'm sure the would have some other reason that they could not provide the service and would want to charge me for some other fictional problem. I would not recommend this company. "

"We recently had All States clean our ducts and they did a great job. You could hear the stuff coming out of our vents. The vacuum they use is powerful, it even sucked up a metal fork that must have been left from the previous homeowners. Thanks!"

"I had a terrible experience with this company and have since sent a letter to them, Service Alley, and the Best Business Bureau. I also believe I was the victim of a bait and switch scheme. I purchased 2 Service Alley deals to clean my air ducts since I have 2 HVACs in my home. When they got there they told me I needed $1200 of additional services before they could do the air duct cleaning. I asked for a refund for the cleaning since they couldn't do it and they told me no. Then they dropped the price to $850. When I told them I couldn't afford it, they suggested breaking up the payments. Halfway through the air duct cleaning, I told them I decided against the additional services and they became very confrontational. They didn't finish the air duct cleaning, and they left numerous vent covers falling out of the ceiling. They told me they weren't going to leave unless I paid them at least an additional $400. When I told them no, they told me they'd just go ahead and charge the credit card I used to initially purchase the deals through Service Alley. I told them the card had been cancelled and they called their office. The supervisor told me over the phone that they wouldn't leave unless I paid them at least $199 extra. Since I was a woman alone in the house, I wrote them a check to get them to leave. The next day I put a stop payment on the check because I believe they were trying to defraud me. Also, I didn't appreciate the fact that they spoke Spanish to each other in front of me discussing the situation and then wouldn't tell me what they were saying. "

"My story is a bit long, but at the end I would give All States Air Duct Pro a "Thumbs up" rating for the job performed. The things I did not like took place initially, which included: (1) being told that the $114 charge was for cleaning the ducts of one furnance whereas Servicy Ally's advertisement clearly stated "whole house duct-cleaning", (2) apparent lack of communication between Service Alley and All States Air Duct Pro, because All States showed up to perform the job AFTER I had cancelled the job with Service Ally three weeks in advance. When on premise, the All States crew did a good job. Although we paid $320 extra for the unexpected but needed cleaning of one furnace, their crew did clean all the airducts and vents of the whole house (2 furnances) for $114. We have no complaint about their cleaning performance. We do strongly recommend that both Service Ally and All States Air Duct Pro spell out clearly and detailedly in advance the inclusions and exclusions of the deal to prevent the appearance of misleading customers. In sum, as for the job performance, we are happy with what was done and will readily use All States Air Duct Pro again in the future."

"i echo peter f's review from today. i was initially upset with the miscommunication in what was actually included in the service alley special and what all states actually included. after doing a quick internet search, i found that their estimate for cleaning was equivalent if not slightly better than price estimates from other local companies. i spent an additional $472 to have 2 furnaces and the entire house cleaned. despite the pricing confusion, i give a thumbs up bc the techs were professional and did a good job."

"Although the men were nice... as they were supposed to as a rule the first thing they wanted to do was sell me something. Then they did not do the job they were supposed to do... When I brought it to their attention that they failed to do some of the vent I was told that they could reach them by going through the other ducks... How stupid is it to tell some one that you can reach the ducks in the ceiling from the ducks in the floor? Then it was over priced by $25.00.... needless to say I want my money back or the service that I paid for....ASAP"

"Refused to do the service. Stated that I needed to have a mold situation remedied for $1800.00 first. I complained about this apparent bait and switch scheme to Service Alley and was promptly refunded my purchase price. I believe that it was a scam. I checked and the mold rermedy should be $200 to $400. They first told me $2300, Then they called the office and came back with $1800. I am 70 years old and have bought enough cars to recognize a hustle when I see one."

Thumbs up by Lloyd S. July 31, 2011

"They suggested more than I'd ordered. I asked them to proceed with the service I ordered and they did. After being told the system was filthy, at the end I was told the system was actually pretty clean. I feel the job was adequate but could have been more thorough. With the equipment used there is no way the entire ducts can be vacuumed considering all the bends, etc. They can only go to the first bend or two or the length of the hose. While some systems are no doubt filthy if not cared for, I personally would not have duct cleaning done again."

"They broke my air duct cover in the kitchen floor and didn't even tell me, when I was sitting in the next room! They left and I discovered the broken cover 2 hours later, at 1:00. I called the company to inform them, and they "were unable" to send someone back same day to solve the problem. Instead, they suggested coming back on Sunday (6 days from now) to repair it, of course between the hours of 8 and 11. Really, they need to replace it. Very poor!"

"The crew called before arriving this morning. They had been in the house about ten minutes when I was braced with further charges: $320 for furnace cleaning, $190 for anti-rust treatment of the ducts. (I was unprepared for this since I hadn't read the comments here.) I went with the furnace cleaning at a price at least twice as much as those later quoted to me. The bathroom fan was part of the special, but it wasn't touched. I cleaned it later. I'm doubtful about the dryer vent, also part of the deal. There was no clean-up. The crew seemed rushed and was here for about 40 minutes."

"Bought the $114 whole house duct cleaning deal. Never managed to have it done. Was told it should not be done without cleaning the furnace, blower, etc., which would cost an ADDITIONAL $1374, including some of the items that were supposed to be part of the $114 deal (sanitizer, etc). The dryer vent was supposed to be part of the deal too, but was not done either. Very pleased with Service Alley's response--they refunded me for the $114."

"Paint ripped on ceiling and smart mouth comment well I guess you will have to paint the ceiling! Broken bulb when fixture was dropped! Dust everywhere and items not placed back where they were found, dryer vent had to remind them to do. Asked to see dirt from area and did not do just dumped. Dumbed by our patio in back yard so mess! These are professionals??????????"

"I arranged for a duct cleaning through a Service Alley promotion. Reg. $200+, special deal $114. Seemed good until I discovered in a mail flyer that similar services could be had for between $40 and $50. Still, I reasoned that for the extra money they must do more. No, it was explained, I bought the basic service only. Some problems arose (to be fair, they were unforeseen problems with my unit), but when I declined the add on services, the tech seemed quite put off and terse through the rest of the work. Will look elsewhere in the future."

"ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL! I've now wasted two days dealing with the All States appointment and its aftermath. They didn't clean our ducts, rather told me to call our furnace servicer to have them do cleaning first. That service provider responded immediately and couldn't figure out what All States was talking about. Then I noticed that the two covers All States had removed - the return grate and one vent - were missing screws and not properly re-installed. What a nightmare!"

"I have a similar story to the others posted here. I purchased the air duct cleaning on service alley, then was quote a $2200 dollar price to clean my dirty AC unit. The price was dropped to $1100 before I finally told them to leave. Before they left, I was able to search the internet to find that average prices even if your unit is dirty should be around $250. Don't these guys know you can look this stuff up? I am APPALLED at their business practice and hope to get my money refunded. "

"This advertisement was a bit misleading. When I read, "whole house air duct cleaning" I was under the impression they would be snaking vacuum lines and brushes through the ducts to clean out the dirt and dust. As it turns out, I spent a summer in high school as a helper doing just that kind of work. It's a dirty job, and I figured for $114 I was getting a pretty good deal. I was wrong. Instead of cleaning the air ducts, the guys spent a total of 30 minutes cleaning just the vents into each room--not the air ducts themselves. I could have done this myself, and it was certainly not worth the $114 I spent on it. I shudder to think that that was the 50% off price. This service was basically an invitation for them to come into my house and push additional services on me. $300 to clean the dust out of my furnace? No thank you. I did that with my own vacuum in 20 minutes. $1000 to come back and clean the vents 10 times over the next five years? Whaaaaat? I don't know if I'm more annoyed at the company for their misleading tactics and pushing worthless extra services, or if I'm more annoyed at myself for getting duped. Either way, it was $114 not even remotely well spent."

"I purchased the same deal fro Service Alley. When the tech arrived, he stated the furnace was dirty and need to be cleaned before he could do the ducts (300+) and the furnace is less than 2 years old. I called the company to get a refund and was told by the call taker that the manger was not in and she wasnt sure when she would be. Anyone get a refund. He didnt do anything."

"Before any work would be performed they attempted to upsell services at a cost in excess of $4K. Classic bait and switch duct cleaning scam. "

Thumbs down by Dennis H. August 19, 2011

"I was very disappointed with this company and would NOT recommend them to anyone. I purchased the $114 whole house air duct cleaning deal for my townhouse with a single HVAC system. The bait and switch up charging began shortly after the service technician arrived. Upon arrival, the tech informed me that the deal did not include the cleaning of the main line Duct on the Third floor of the house and that it would cost an additional $69. In addition, the technician examined the furnace and told me that we needed to have a mold situation remediated and that the ducts should not be cleaned until we had the mold remediated from the furnace. The Tech originally quoted me a cost of between $1,800 and $2,200 to have the mold from the furnace removed. When I bristled at the exorbitant nature of the service quote, the technician then said he would check with the home office. After checking with the home office, the tech then quoted me a price of $750 to $1,100 to have the mold remediated from the furnace. I told the tech that the pricing still seemed exorbitant and I would have to check with other companies before proceeding with the service. After checking with other companies, the cost for the furnace mold remediation should have been between $200-300. To clean the air ducts, it appeared all the tech did was stick a vacuum hose up to some of the vents in the house. The tech did not remove any of the vent covers or clean the ducts from the Top of the house down to the furnace as per industry standards. Based on what the tech did, I could have performed the same cleaning with my vacuum. In addition, after the service tech left, I discovered that the Tech did not clean the Dryer vent or the bathroom fan as stated in the $114 duct cleaning deal. A couple of weeks later, I had a company come and do the mold remediation of my furnace and it only cost me $190. Unlike All States, the company I retained was certified by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) and was VSMR certified for mold removal. I asked the company to take a look at my ducts and let me know if it looked like they had been professionally cleaned. I was informed that they did not look like they had been professionally cleaned! This was the first deal I purchased from Service Alley and if my experience is representative of the type of companies Service Alley will partner with to offer deals, I would be very hesitant to purchase another deal! "

Then they cannot even point to where it's so dirty that they want to charge $500 for each furnance (2 that I have in the house) UNBELIEVEABLE. Don't even waste your time, these other posts are probably false. If they ever give you a problem, CALL 911 and the POLICE will remove them from your property !!!"

"Although the work was done well. I was sold a solution to mold. The work was about two hours that included chemicals and installation of a UV light all for $1,500. Unfortunately, I did not bargain at the point of sale. I spoke with a manager about reducing the price but to no available. Based on high cost I would not recommend this vendor and suggest that Service Alley discontinue their services."

"The company was unable to complete the air duct cleaning services due to the technician indicating I had mold inside my basement furnace. The company did not confirm the problem was mold by conducting the industry standard mold test. I received a written quote for a $800 mold treatment and 5 year mold maintenance warranty, in which the technicians will come to my home every (6) months to ensure the mold problem does not re-occur. Needless to say, I refused the service and opted to do some research and get additional quotes. After doing some research and consulting NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association), I verified that All States Air Duct Pro is not nationally certified. NADCA confirmed that they have never heard of mold warranties and this is not a standard industry practice. You cannot determine a mold problem just by appearance. The only way mold can be verified is with a mold test being conducted. I also confirmed the information with multiple certified NADCA and CRMI (CRMI Residential Mold Inspector) specialists in regards to industry standards and prices. It appears that the company was trying to upsell additional services and maintenance warranties for increased profit. The average rate for an Oxine air duct sanitizer treatment to remove mold is $65.00. Any company can CLAIM that they are certified. Please do your homework in selecting a company that is certified and ALWAYS verify!!! If you have mold issues, seek a mold remediator/specialist that is CRMI certified. Beware, not all air duct cleaning companies are mold certified. Be sure the company is CRMI (CRMI Residential Mold Inspector), CMR (CMR Mold Remediator), or CCMI (CCMI Commercial Mold Inspector) certified. If you need any help or want to verify a companies certification, please visit the below sites. These national sites will list all the certified companies in your area by state or zip code. I wish I would have found the Service Alley website and read these reviews in advance. Please don't make the same mistake. Hope this helps and good luck! www.nadca.com www.namri.org "

"SCAM ALERT!!! I seriously wouldn't even give All States Air Duct Pro one star! The two men who came to our house did a 5-minute mold test and a 15-minute vent cleaning and charged us $349!!!!! They didn't even clean our dryer's vent and charged us for it!!!! They even lied to us that they did clean the dryer's vent, but when we checked, it was still filled with dust!!! Last time, another air duct company spent over 2.5 hours cleaning out air system and only charged us $250, but All States didn't clean anything that they marked off on the invoice as cleaned and over charged us for $349!!! We kept calling their company, but they only answered us twice and then continue to ignore our phone calls and not pick up! They are such a scam, so don't even use them to clean anything in your home. Such a waste of time and money! We will report them to BBB too!"

"I believe this company to be a scam. I purchased a Groupon for air duct cleaning and they told me I needed Mold Remediation and it would cost an additional $1400! Then they said it would only cost $700. I have a townhouse. After calling another air duct cleaning company, they told me that mold must be tested before declaring it to be actual mold. They can only say suspect mold, and usually sanitizing the system will get rid of any small amounts of mold. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY."

"Purchased a Groupon deal to clean ALL vents and dryer vent. Like others have stated this is a classic "BAIT and SWITCH". They tried to sell me $1000+ to clean my furnance and other air return vents. When I refused they got terse and rushed. While cleaning our third floor vents they cracked and damaged multiple parts of our beam which was rubbing against the hose. I had to yell to let them know they were damaging and causing significant amount of chips to form on my beam. They said they'll fix it. Needless to say the whole cleaning and fixing took less than 40 mins. They did NOT clean all my vents!!! plus dabbed some silicon on my beam. Really???? how is silicon going to fix damaged paint? I've moved in about 6month ago and spent thousands of dollars to professionally paint the entire house with very expensive paint (non-toxic paint since I have a infant). When they realized they're causing damage they routed the hose through the beams on the railing. Now there is damage on the railing beams as well. I want to know how can any person clean all my vents in under 40 mins (including my dryer vent)? The answer is: they didn't clean ALL my vents. I'll definitely be filing a complaint through the BBB to recoup the cost to the damage to my property. This business is a SCAM!!! I'm going to let my friend know who purchased the same deal at Groupon to watch them like a hawk and make sure they clean all the vents. This business will definitely not stay in business too long... based on what I've seen. "

"This company is a TOTAL scam! I had a dealfind voucher for vent cleaning and they did absolutely nothing -- other then tell me I had mold and rob me of $300 additional dollars. They didn't even clean my vents (although they pretended to) and never did my dryer which was included in my voucher. They used a vacuum hose that didn't have pressure on my vents and didn't do the ones on the wall. They basically used a paint brush to remove dust on the surface. I just called the company acting like a pontenial custormer and was told that they use a brush system and that the removed dust is placed in a bag that i can see. Well -- not at my house! They also told me that they have to do a test for mold and bacteria. Their guy just showed me spots. I am trying to stop payment on my check now and writing a formal complaint letter. Stay away from this company!"

"After scheduling our appointment with My Air Duct Pro, the two technicians arrived two hours past the scheduled window time (which was 9am to 12pm). The van that My Air Duct Pro was using did not actually say "My Air Duct Pro". It said "[All] States Air Duct Pro" (the "All" was scratched out). Upon entering the home, within LITERALLY 20 seconds the main technician looked into the return air vent (with his iPhone light) and immediately declared we MUST pay $800 to have "mold and bacteria removed" for our safety. After discussing the need, he lowered his price to $500 but was incredibly pushy and persistent that this must be done. After denying the extra service, the other technician began to "clean" our air vents. By "clean" I mean he dragged his dirty vacuum hose all around hour house, showing absolutely NO regard for walls or furniture--nicking BOTH! He made more of a mess than what he was actually cleaning up! He would wipe off the air vent covers with a dirty paint brush ON MY CARPET and then walk away!! He would quickly stick the hose in the vent, and quickly put the air vent cover back on without installing it correctly. He never even offered to take off his shoes, so he was tracking dirt and dust all over my home! Several of the air vents weren't even cleaned and NONE of the air returns were cleaned. Their "furnace inspection" was, looking at the air returns. They, in fact, never actually looked at the real furnace and they obviously didn't clean it either. THEN, they proceeded to "clean" the dryer vent, which took them approximately 30 seconds. They also failed to re-attach the dryer hose to the dryer. They then went upstairs, dumped their dirty water in our front yard and then left. These people are HORRIBLE!! The purchase agreement is 60-90 minutes of air duct cleaning and a furnace inspection. My Air Duct Pro/All States Air Duct Pro did the total cleaning ALONG with the 5 minute rant on the urgency of doing their $800 "mold cleaning" with "natural chemicals that no other company uses" and "all other companies are poisionous and over $3000" in a combined total of 15 MINUTES. 15 MINUTES. My Air Duct Pro/All States Air Duct Pro did not inspect our furnace, they did not clean the dryer vent entirely, they did not clean the air returns AT ALL, they did not properly re-install the air vents upon cleaning (or in the case of our bathroom, they just left it on the floor) and, finally, they would only clean the actual ducts when I was standing in the room with them. ALL THE WHILE, managing to get our carpet, furniture and walls DIRTY. After they left, we had to sweep up after them, re-install air vents correctly, re-attach the dryer hose and put it back in place and wipe down walls and furniture where the vacuum hose rubbed up against them. Also, we will now have to find ANOTHER company to come and TRULY inspect and clean our furnace. I will NEVER again use My Air Duct Pro/All States Air Duct Pro!!!"

"I have nothing more to add other than what is already here over and over again. The technicians were very, very rude, pushy and had no credibility with their claim I had mold in my furnace. This is from my Groupon - "The ventilation virtuosos begin by opening all vents and brushing the entry of ducts to startle any dust, pollen, or napping house elves. After debris is agitated, technicians use HEPA power vacuums and negative pressure to draw air through the system and dislodge contaminants." This was not done. Groupon - don't you vet your vendors??"

"NEVER deal with these guys. They did a great job except that they left wires disconnected. I was unable to get them to come back at a time that somebody would be at the house to fix the problem. I had to hire another company to fix it and lost $100 more due to these "professionals." They refused to refund the $100 I spent to have somebody else come out and fix the furnace they broke (wires left disconnected) within a reasonable timeframe."

"NEVER NEVER NEVER use these guys. They do not keep their appointments. They lie to you on the phone. They say it is not their fault and basically say its your fault. Apparently they DO NOT know how to run a business and keep appointments. I would not recommend them to anyone. "

"DO NOT USE! In 10 minutes they claimed we had mold and bullied my husband into paying an additional $350 to have them cleaned with a special spray. Living Social deals like this one are NO good. Sign up with Angie's list and use a provider that comes with a good track record. Oh, and my HVAC guy just told me that it's clear they did a terrible job of just the regular cleaning. "

"TERRIBLE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Did not show up for a scheduled appointment and claimed to have 'called numerous times' - false. Have tried to reschedule twice now, but after reading reviews I am afraid!! BEWARE BEWARE!! "
