"If it had ever gotten to the point where they actually moved our stuff, it may have been a different review, but here it is: I purchased a groupon for Twins Movers. $149 for 4 hours with a 2 man crew. Blankets and shrink wrap was extra as well as an “extra charge if outside 30 mile radius from zip code 21401.” Now, pulling out my old Geometry book…Radius is ½ the diameter…so from the center to the edge of the circle. If the center of the radius is zip code 21401, am I within the radius? Well, if you’re following along…my zip is 20714. Yup, look at that 26 miles. New zip code 21122, hey, that’s only 18 miles. Both are within a 30 mile radius of 21401. I even CALLED THEM TO VERIFY! Well…we buy the groupon, and call them to set up our move. The guy even tells us again we will not be charged the “travel fee” but does tell us he is not in the office, so we need to fill out the online form and he will email us our confirmation in the morning. That was a Tuesday. We fill out the form…get a “Thank you for submitting our online request form” email, but no confirmation. Fast forward 3 days, call…”We never received your online request, but we just put you in the system, you’ll get an email soon.” Fast forward 5 days and a daily phone call, still no email. Finally, after a 7th phone call, an email is sent at 5:37 pm. $175 in additional charges are on the invoice. I call to clarify and no one answers, we are 48 hours from our move and we are starting to panic. I figure they aren’t answering because it is after 5 pm. So, first thing in the morning, I call. I get transferred to 3 different people and finally am told that we are being charged the $175 because our move is outside the 30 mile required radius for the groupon rate. I explain to him that a 30 mile radius gives a total distance inside the circle as 60 miles and our move is only 38, how can we be outside the radius? He says that because the starting and ending locations are more than 30 miles apart, he has to charge the fee. I tried extremely hard to stay calm, and explain to him, that this is not what is written on the groupon and that he, as a reputable business, should honor what is written. If you meant for it to be within 30 miles of each other, it should have been worded differently or maybe “15 mile radius” should have been used. I should not be charged an extra fee because you printed the deal incorrectly (or didn’t know the meaning of a radius). The customer should not suffer because the business owner made a mistake. In the end, we were issued a refund and a great apology from groupon, but now, 48 hours from our move we having to call another company all because someone doesn’t know the definition of the term radius. We are actually going to pay another company more than the groupon rate plus the $175 just because I refused to allow them to profit off of something that clearly looks like a bait and switch to me."
