Okay, we admit it: as painters, we’re always thinking about when and why to paint. As a homeowner, you may be wondering about the “when’s” and “why’s” to paint your home. Here’s a short list of reasons that prompted other homeowners to contact us when they were ready to paint:

Peeling – Bare wood, drywall or other materials can be seen beneath painted surfaces.

Cracking - The paint is dried out and has an “alligator skin” appearance.

Fading - The original paint color is lighter than when it was originally coated.

Chalking – Chalking (a milky and chalk-like substance that appears on the surface of the paint) can bleed onto other surfaces near the painted areas, like an unpainted brick wall. Chalk can cause permanent staining, so it’s important to paint before irreversible damage occurs.

Color and More: "Bring on the Color"

There's a lot of color outside now: the green grass, the trees and the flowers that have reached their peak blooms. Colors can evoke many feelings and are associated with a variety of moods. Bring color into your home using a palette of hues that appeal to you and your family.


Yellow is the most visible color, which is why many street signs are yellow. Pastel yellows are happy without being overpowering and make for a cheerful backdrop. Gold tones create an atmosphere of richness or can be construed as antique.


Orange has a cheerful aura. It is bold, exciting, friendly and informal. The dark, muted version if orange is rust. Rust colors in the living room or family room are inviting and give a feeling of casualness.
