"Beware: Bait and switch company! On March 2, 2011, I bought their $49 coupon providing for carpet cleaning for 900 square feet to use on my rental condo. My tenants made the appointment for March 17th. When the cleaner arrived, he told my tenant that the cost would be an additional $25 because the carpet was Berber and a better quality than what the coupon was for. My tenant paid the $25 without consulting me because I was out of town. When I called Shiny Carpet Cleaning, the owner said that these carpets used a different cleaner. He said it should have been included in the fine print for the coupon and he was sorry for the mistake, but refused to refund the extra $25. I not only would not recommend using Shiny Carpet Cleaning, but I would also be wary of using coupons from the Service Alley. I guess it is called "buyer beware"!"
Provider's Response
We are sorry for the misunderstanding. We strive to provider our customer with a pleasant experience every time they use Shiny Carpet Cleaning. You have Berber carpet, so it takes more attention than a typical carpet. Hopefully we can win you business back.

"When the cleaner showed up for the original appointment, he informed me that my carpet needed "deep" cleaning which the coupon did not offer. I rescheduled the appoinmtnet and I was very pleased with the results. I have recommend them to a friend."

"Shiny Carpet did a terrific job with the carpets. We upgraded to the deep cleaning which was a more reasonable cost with the Service Alley deal. He explained everything that would be done and worked steadily through each room."

"why dont you do move-out's?"

"These guys were awful. I had read a bad review about them asking for more money for additional services on site, but that was just the half of it. First they were late. They gave me a window of 10-12, so I called at 10 to see what the ETA was. I had to call 5 times to get a person. He (Ivan?) told me closer to 12. At 12.15 I called and he told me 12.30. At 12.45 I called (again it took several tries) and he called me back and said 10 minutes. At 1.15 he said he was nearby, and at 1.30 the finally showed up. I was honestly glad to see them bc I'd moved all the furniture out of the house. It wasn't a great situation, but he apologized and I figured: better late than never. Since I'd read the other review and called, I knew that my commercial carpet was considered "berber" and there would be an additional $20 cost. However, as I showed Ivan the job, he told me that there would also be an additional $100 for "deep cleaning" and an extra $60 bc my house is a duplex and one must go outside to get to the other part. It was a classic bait and switch. As much as I wanted to get the job done, I couldn't in good conscience patronize these crooks."

"The employee was very professional and friendly he did not do a hard sell to get me to add on extras but did explain what I could expect with deep cleaning versus what he would do. The job came out better than I expected and I would use them again."

"Excellent service - much cleaner than I expected!"

"We upgraded to the deep cleaning since we just moved into our condo and didn't know when the carpets were last cleaned. Our technician did a great job!"

"I purchased the deal with the intention that my stairs were the only place were there was carpet. Unfortunately, the coupon only covered regular, not deep-cleaning, which stairs generally require (mine definitely needed it). So, I paid the $2/stair and was really happy with the results. My original plan was to replace the carpet, but after the cleaning, it practically looked brand new. All the crayon, food, dirt and stains that my young kids created were all gone!"

"The guy showed up within the window of time they promised. Very professional and thorough. My carpets look better than they ever have.... I will say that the professional cleaning is worth it (versus just a steam cleaning). "

"It appears that their Service Alley coupon is a means of getting people to try them out so the upsell was suspected. My carpets too were flagged as needing deep cleaning ($20/room). I passed initially on the upsell offer (not unbearably pushy) and seeing how the cleaner struggled with trying to remove some stains without the "soap" I relented for 2 rooms. The whole house is clean now, (though really damp). I'd probably call them again to clean my home, but won't *spontaneously* recommend them to a friend. They are OK."

"The cleaning is good, but if you say no to the "deep cleaning" he says he is not responsible if any spots remain on the carpet. Smart move! no matter how dirty your carpet is he will always recommend you to get "Deep Cleaning" aka $$$$$"

"Shiny Carpet Cleaning company is dishonest. Social Living had a special for up to 900 square feet for $49. The fine print however does not disclose that Shiny Carpet Cleaning collects the money upfront and then will try to trick you into additional payment way beyound what you would have paid from other carpet companies. Even if you ask them if stairs are included - they will lie and when the technician comes to your scheduled appointment he will start along these lines: this is only basic cleaning, I cannot guarantee that any spots will come off (mind you this deal was advertised for for "muddy paw-prints or chocolate milk stains"), deep cleaning is extra $20 dollars per room, stairs are $2 per step extra, (even though Ian (spelled Aydin) will tell you upfront when making your appointment that they are included in the deal), your square footage is bigger then 900 square feet (bigger???? I asked to measure and we arrived at just over 400 sq.feet). This is the best - WHEN YOU ARE READY TO PAY FOR EXTRAS - HAVE CASH $$$$ OR CHECK HANDY. SHINY CARPET CLEANING DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS! Are they afraid of customers disputing the charges? "

"I signed up for the Living Social deal for 900 square feet, and read all of the fine print before purchasing because we wanted to get 3 rooms and 2 sets of stairs cleaned. When they got out there, they said it would be an extra $50 for the stairs, and that they are never included in their deals. I pointed out numerous times that they should have written that in the fine print then, because I never would have purchased. They wouldn't budge, so I sent them on their way and asked for a refund. Can't really comment on their product, but their customer service is pretty awful - poor sense of integrity. Bait and switch techniques are pretty risky for a family-owned business in a busy town of carpet cleaning companies!"

"Worst company I ever dealt with. Purchased a deal with Eversave for 900 Sq feet of cleaning ($99 value). Then I paid $25 for an upgrade. The owner refused to write me a receipt for the work they did. Only a receip for $25. My landlord needed a receipt to prove I got my carpets cleaned when I moved out. And they refused to write me a receipt detailing the work they did. They said I did not pay them to clean my carpets, that I paid Eversave & they do not get the money from that. A big scam! I know for a fact they get paid from online deals from groupon/living social etc. They can not put in writing the work the did for me so now I am losing my security deposit. "

" Technician arrived on time and did an excellent job with basic cleaning. Extra charges were explained when I booked on the phone. No pressure. Maybe they have learned from the negative reviews below as my experience was completely positive. "

"I bought a Living Social and had an absolutely awful experience. I should have know better. From the minute I first called for an appointment, the owner tried to up-sell me on the deep clean, which I neither wanted nor needed. When the technician arrived he refused to clean, telling me that only wall-to-wall carpeting was eligible not individual carpets (I asked if he had heard of magic carpets, and were they really wall to wall?) He wanted me to pay $96 dollars to clean a single 8X12 carpet. Would it have been OK i wondered if my 8X12 carpet had been in an 8X12 room? I paid for 900 square feet of cleaning, but obviously he just wanted to collect his fee from Living Social and then Up-sell. He was angry that I would not buy the deep clean services and I believe that is why he gave me a hard time about the rest. At the end of the day, I had him clean one carpet, which he did in five minutes and it looks no better than before he cleaned it. Needless to say I will never go near these dishonest business people again."
Provider's Response
Hello
Livingsocial deal is clearly says that is up to 900sqft carpet cleaning not rug.
I believe you already knew that what you are purchasing, because you did not even mention that you have rugs not carpet when making schedule. The first word yo told me already that you will put review and i believe you are using this as a power with too many companies. After you blackmailed me about writing bad review and when i told you still i cannot give you more than what you purchase you got angry because i believe it works for too many companies but it is wrong everybody has a business and we try to make it work.
We work with Livingsocial for long time and about rugs and deep cleaning the voucher explain everything only problem with you because you get good deal and you want more. I did not try to sale you deep cleaning i just explained what is different because you bought the deal and did not even read the fine prints.
I am sorry about misunderstanding but please read next time the deal what you are purchasing, because normally you should be pleased because I still gave you about $135 job for only $49 even after you talked to me really rude. I believe we should get a 5 stars from this job because The Company lost a lot money with you.
You can read all our reviews and you will see we do everything for satisfaction but we do not do it for people who is trying to take advantage of our company.
